Q & A Session with Altru Support
With the new release of Altru hitting the stage this week and into the next few weeks, we thought it would be fun to sit down with the product experts (Altru Support Team) to have a Q & A session. We asked some common questions related to the new release and have broken them out into each functional area of Altru.
Q: When I logged into Altru for the first time today, I entered my old email address. Is there a way to update this?
Yes, you can click the drop down next to your name in the welcome section and click update email address. Here is a short video that walks through this and resetting passwords, etc.
Q: I was trying to import new constituent records into Altru and the process looks different. Do you have any information about what changed?
We made some enhancements to the import process. See this video with all the changes:
Q: Now that the memberships have changed in Altru, I am not sure how to print a membership card from the constituent record.
Membership cards can now be printed from the Memberships tab on the constituent record. See this short video on how to do this:
Q: I was adding a payment from the constituent record and do not see Membership as an application anymore. Where do I add membership payments?
The way we add and renew memberships is a bit different now. We can renew memberships directly from the constituent record by clicking renew now OR we can use the Membership dues batch. This video will walk through both options.
Q: I see that we can now sell membership add-ons, which is great! Where can I create these?
We are very excited about this feature. This video will walk you through where to configure these options.
Q: We tried to sell our first membership add-on and got this weird error: Data could not be saved. In account system “System Generated Account System”, a mapping does not exist for Office: Development-Payments, Revenue type: Payment, Application type: Membership Add-on, Payment method type: Check, Subtype not specified
This is actually a General Ledger mapping error. In the new release of Altru, membership add-ons are mapped separately in the GL. This knowledgebase solution will walk you through mapping these.
Q: I see this option under sales to batch print tickets. I would really like to use this but when I select this option and click select tickets to print, I get a message saying Internet Explorer is required for sales document printing and cash drawer support. What do I need to do to get this feature to work?
Batch printing tickets is a new feature in this release but it requires Internet Explorer. This video will walk you through updating the workstation interface and how to use the batch printing feature.
Q: Can users register and log into the website without making a purchase now?
YES! We now have the ability to allow patrons to register with your site and receive discounts before they even make a purchase. Check out this video with all the details:
Q: Did something change with merchandise scanning? The merchandise screen looks different?

Q: We ran the deposit process today and noticed there was a red X saying that transactions were not assigned to a deposit template. Why is this?
In the new release of Altru, we can now include back office revenue in the deposit process. This can replace the task of manually linking payments to a deposit and will save you time … YAY! You are seeing the red X because back office revenue is not currently included in a deposit template. This video will walk you through fixing this.
Q: If we use Blackbaud Merchant Services, do we still have to upload the disbursement report to settle the transactions or did this change?
Great question! We now have an auto-settle feature in Altru. This means that you NO longer have to upload the disbursement report. Each disbursement period, Altru automatically pulls this report and settles the transactions for you. Check out this video for more information…
Q: We have been getting this match popup menu when adding constituent records. Where can I get more information about these settings?
