Team Altru at 2012 AAM Conference – We Are Users, Too!

Team Altru just finished our third day at the annual conference for the American Association of Museums (AAM)…two more to go!   It has been fantastic to catch up with many of our customers, and we’ve really enjoyed educating other organizations about Altru.

One of my favorite parts of AAM is getting to spend time with some of our customers face-to-face.  I love learning about the new and creative things you have going on!  I got to hear about the new zip line tour one of our Florida customers is close to opening.  A Las Vegas customer stopped by our booth to test an idea he wanted to try where they bring 3G-powered iPads out onto the street to sell tickets for admission and tours. We were able to show him Altru working on an iPad to help him with his proof of concept.  The executive director of one of our newest customers showed me pictures of their amazing site in Chattanooga overlooking the Tennessee River.

Another great experience has been having Lizzie Jones from the Portland Museum of Art  in our booth.  Lizzie is a wealth of knowledge for how organizations can leverage technology to improve their operation (infographic) and she has been busy answering questions from museums about Altru.

A personal highlight for me was getting to be an Altru user.  We used Altru to check in attendees at several AAM events, such as the Leadership Reception, the CEO/Director Reception, and the Board Alumni Reception.  It was a great experience for us and for the event attendees because it took only seconds to check them in.  The best part was when we realized we were short one iPad for the check-in crew (it was left in Charleston).   I was able to pull up the Mobile Check-In app on my iPhone!  See below for a glimpse at Kevin Russell (our Manager of Professional Services) and me using an iPhone and iPad to check in attendees in seconds!
