Targeting Donors That Have Given More Than Once in eTapestry
Reaching out to those donors who have given two or more times in their lifetime can be very powerful. Their giving has made an impact on your charity work not just once but at least twice. If a constituent has thought enough of your organization to give multiple times it would stand to reason they are poised to give yet again.
You can quickly locate those donors in your eTapestry database by creating a cumulative giving query. To find those that have given a cumulative number of times we will first need to create a query that captures all donors. Then create a second query that uses the first query as starting criteria to build off of, setting that second query to calculate the cumulative number of donations given. Here is an example of a very simple query set up to find those donors that have given two or more times.
Query on all donors:
1. Go to Query.
2. Click on a category that you want to store this query in.
3. click New Query under the tasks menu.
4. Name the query Donors.
5. Set the Starting criteria to Base/All Constituents.
6. Set the Data Return Type to journal entries.
7. Under MATCH select All.
8. Choose Commonly Used Fields from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on Individual Transaction Received.
9. Fill in Greater Than or Equal To/$1.00.
10. Click Save and Preview.
Query on the donors that have given more than once:
1. Go to Query.
2. Click on a category that you want to store this query in.
3. Click New Query under the tasks menu.
4. Name the query Donors that have given 2 or more times.
5. Set the Starting criteria to “Donors”
6. Set the Data Return Type to journal entries.
7. Under MATCH select All.
8. Choose Cumulative amounts from the Available Fields drop down menu and click on cumulative number transactions
9. Fill in Greater Than or Equal To / 2
10. Click Save and Preview
Now that you have a list of those donors, an appeal may be on order to target those that have given multiple times.
