The Patron Edge Online Common Errors

The two most common errors you’ll come across in The Patron Edge Online are the L300 and L303 error messages.  While these errors both have similarities in their origins, they can have some vastly different resolutions.

In order to really understand what’s going on with these errors, let’s review the basics behind The Patron Edge Online connection. Our typical environment has The Patron Edge Online manager service run on each server, which helps the Queues and Listeners communicate with each other.

PE Server 1

These configurations are set up within the ToptixEsro2.INI configuration file that is located by default in the root of your Patron Edge Online directory (C:\Program Files\Blackbaud\The Patron Edge Online).

L303 errors typically point to an issue with communication unable to reach The Patron Edge server.PE Server 2

To resolve L303 you’ll want to allow access on port 2028 as well as to ensure you have the correct IP listed in your configuration file.  Whenever a change is done to the configuration file, you’ll want to restart The Patron Edge Online manager service to allow the new configurations to replace the old ones.

L300 errors cover a bit more ground in the scope of what causes them.PE Server 3

Typically when you receive an L300 error, it means The Patron Edge Online server can communicate to your Patron Edge server, but it cannot send information back to The Patron Edge Online server.  For example, this means that on your website you can see events, but you cannot add a ticket to your basket.

The best first course of action is to always restart The Patron Edge Online manager service on both servers as this causes the connection to re-establish and will help pinpoint if it was just a passing ISP or network failure.  This is a common error and can occur for a variety of reasons, including firewall rules configured incorrectly, password changing for the user running The Patron Edge Online manager service, or even ISP/network failures.
