How to Get More Out of Your Canned Reports in The Raiser’s Edge
Many times we use canned reports but wish they had the ability to include just one more column, or to include a phone number as well as an email, or, in the case of Campaigns, Funds and Appeals reports, the ability to display constituent names and/or gift details. Creating a query to pull the same information can be time-consuming and sometimes overwhelming and unsuccessful.
There is a better and easier way… output queries.
Listed at the bottom of the General Tab of virtually every canned report is an option to Create output query:

Some reports even allow you to choose the type of query to create:

Marking this option and clicking either Preview or Print will generate the static query, which you will be asked to save:

These queries can serve a variety of uses:
- You can include the query in an Export to select more information for your output.
- You can include the query in a Mail template to create letters, labels, or envelopes for the constituents in the report results.
- You can add output to the query in the Query module to compare report results and find discrepancies.
- You can find individuals who received soft credits from organizations.
